Lab 7 - Thomas Barrow

Lab 7 - Thomas Barrow https://www.icp.org/browse/archive/constituents/thomas-barrow?all/all/all/all/0 Thomas Barrow was born in America in 1938. He studied at the Art Institute of Design in Chicago and graduated with an M.A. in graphic design in 1967. Thomas does a variety of different images in black & white and in colour. From my observation, Thomas tends to allow a lot of light in and overexposes his images which in turn makes his photography bright.  I was really drawn to this image when researching and this image is also why I choose to write about Thomas Barrow. Thomas uses a lot of subtle colour in this image which keeps it simple and soft. He also uses words in his image and although the words aren't super noticeable, it adds a nice touch to this image.  Some of Thomas's black and white images still include a small tint of colour.  I was also drawn to this image because of the composition and dark and light colours of the books in the image.

Image 1 - Stand in one spot and take 24 unique photographs while standing in the same place without moving our feet. I like this image because it is showing a lot and makes you want to look at the image more to figure out what is in the image. Image 2 - 10 unique/ abstract photographs of 1 small subject  I choose this image because of the simplicity of it while also having that bright orange background making it stand out. Image 3 - Choose one subject and place it in each corner of the frame for 4 images. The object I choose was a fire exit sign and I choose this because it was rectangular so it fit in the corner of the camera frame nicely. Image 4 - Find a scene and take at least 10 photos from this scene. I choose the scenery of the stairs and I choose this because every angle was so different and complex and it felt like it was a different scene in each image. I choose this image though because of the pop of yellow colour on the railings.  Image 5 - Create a restriction (un...

I liked how authentic this picture of my friend is. I feel like this image shows genuine happiness. This picture of campus captures the environment of our college and the people in it. I like how this picture shows three different people but each of them are doing something different and I like they could have completely different thoughts and opinions on what they're doing. This picture is of two of my friends and I like how candid this is.

T his photo is from the book 'milk and honey' by Rupi Kaur. I really like how authentic this photo and book is as it represents the author's life. Her story is told in a series of poems and drawings done by Kaur herself. This particular image in the book stood out to me because I feel as though it can be interpreted in many ways. I also really like how simple the drawing is while simultaneously having such a wonderful message and story to it. I took this photo while I was walking home. I really like this picture as the different lighting between the rainbows are different. I find that really cool and interesting how nature can be so gorgeous if we just look. I like the way the tree in the image compliments the rainbows and fits perfectly within the photo. I really like this simple image of a bee obtaining nectar from a flower. I took this picture in Avoca's garden centre by Kilmacanogue. I like this picture because of how unbothered the bee is and it just shows that nat...
